Property ground rules
A draft framework for the rules that would apply at a restoration property. No rules have been adopted yet.
Smoke, alcohol and drug free zones
Darren has proposed smoke, alcohol and drug free zones. The framework is built to hold that proposal. A separately adopted policy for each site would set out where such zones apply and how they work.
A general slogan would not be enough. The rules must not exclude people who take prescribed medicines, so the policy has to explain how they are treated.
What an adopted policy must cover
- Boundaries of the place and what each area is for
- Smoking and vaping
- Alcohol
- Unlawful substances
- Impairment
- Prescribed medicines
- Access requirements
- Visitors and children
- Fire
- Tools and equipment
- Water
- Animal safety
- How concerns are raised and who decides
Why rules are explained for each activity
A visitor, volunteer, retreat guest, tenant, worker and resident each have different arrangements. The rules people are asked to accept are explained on the page for that activity and are never assumed from a general tick-box.
