Volunteers restoring an Australian creek bank

Practical restoration for people, communities and the land.

We are developing practical ways for people to care for the places they live, grow useful skills, support local production and strengthen community life. Explore the proposed projects, see what each one needs and find a way to contribute that suits your abilities and circumstances.

A programme in its development stage

Restoration Australia brings a set of proposals into one place: ecological repair, nourishing food, wellbeing, moral responsibility and community enterprise. Each one needs suitable people, resources and a clear account of how it will work.

You can see what is being considered, what has been agreed, what is operating and what the work has achieved. Right now, everything listed here is a proposal.

What we restore

Five connected fields of work give the programme its structure.

An expression of interest helps assess a proposal. It does not make a booking or create a membership.

Where projects happen

Projects develop where suitable people, permissions and resources are available. Proposed regions are described as proposals only, and no local branch is implied. Landholders can start a private conversation without publishing an address.

Learning and progress

Learning materials will name their author, date and scope, and appear here as they are reviewed. Project updates, decisions and results will be published with their costs, measures and limits. Until there are reports, we explain how progress will be reported.

Our values, and our neighbours

We believe restoration begins with responsibilities people can recognise and useful work they can do together. Taking part respects freedom of conscience, personal dignity and the right to ask questions.
